To bridge the gap between quality education and access to educational resources, a Ghanaian based non-governmental organisation, Owusu Darko Foundation, has donated educational materials to the students in Bomfa in the Ashanti Region in the Juaben Constituency.
The Owusu Darko Foundation is non-profitable organisation whose primary mission is to promote the wellbeing of brilliant but needy children in our villages to secure their future.
The items which were worth over GHC6,000 included books, school bags, pens and uniforms.
Businessman and founder of Owusu Darko Foundation, Isaac Owusu Darko, said his interest in helping schools in deprived communities sterns from his childhood struggles.
“I felt a sense of duty to give back to the society and tackle inequality and also empower the young people. Along the line in my early days, I experienced hardship and also come from a remote community which has been my primary priority to help the young people to get a better future and also enjoyed some privileges we did not get.” He explained.
Admitting the vast gap between quality education and educational resources in the country, he described it as heartbreaking.
Mr Isaac Owusu Darko intends to extend the donations to other communities in the region and subsequently to other parts of the country.
