The Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced Okoye Blessing Nwakaego to three years in prison for cyberstalking Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus.
The sentencing was handed down by Justice Nicholas Oweibo after Nwakaego pleaded guilty to the two-count charge brought against her by the police.
According to the police, Nwakaego and another individual named Chimabia, who is currently at large, conspired between December 2022 and July 2023 to commit the felony of cyberstalking. They knowingly transmitted a communication via various social media networks, including Tiktok, gossipmill tv, and remedyblog, using Nwakaego’s mobile line number. The communication was found to be grossly offensive and false, with the intent to cause injury, criminal intimidation, enmity, hatred, and unnecessary anxiety to Eniola Badmus.

The offences committed by Nwakaego and Chimabia are in violation of sections 27 and 24(1)(b)(2)(a)(c) of the Cybercrimes (prohibition, prevention, etc.) Act 2015.
When the two-count charge was read, Nwakaego pleaded guilty. The prosecutor, Mr. Nosa Watson Uhumwangho, requested the court’s permission to review the facts of the case.
During the review, Uhumwangho revealed that Nwakaego confessed to the police that she made the offensive video at the behest of a male friend.
