The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has disclosed the schedule for the forthcoming by-election in the Ejisu constituency following the untimely passing of the Member of Parliament for Ejisu, Hon Dr. John Kumah, who died at the age of 45 after a brief illness.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has set the date for the by-election to fill the vacant parliamentary seat, and in accordance with electoral guidelines, the NPP has outlined the following timetable:
- The period for filing nominations by aspiring parliamentary candidates will commence from April 2 to April 4, 2024.
- The NPP will conduct its parliamentary primaries for the Ejisu constituency on April 13, 2024.
An Aspiring Parliamentary Candidate (APC) is required to obtain Nomination Forms after paying a non-refundable application fee of GHC 3,000.00 in Bankers Draft made payable to the NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS, ACCRA.

To complete the nomination process, an APC must pay a non-refundable filing fee of thirty-five thousand Ghana cedis (GHC35,000.00) in Bankers Draft, also in favor of the NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS, ACCRA.
However, Women, Youth, and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) aspiring to higher political office will benefit from a 50% discount on the filing fees. This entails a non-refundable filing fee of seventeen thousand and five hundred Ghana cedis (GHC 17,500.00) for them.
For clarification, a youth is defined as a person aged between 18 and 40 years.
The NPP assures that no individual will be denied access to purchase Nomination Forms.
The Election Committee (EC) members appointed by the NPP are as follows:
- Mr. Danquah Smith Butey – Chairman
- Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako – Vice Chairman
- Hon. Patricia Appiagyei
- Mad. Martha Kodua
- Mr. Evans Nimako – Secretary
- Chairperson of the Constituency Council of Elders
- All Constituency Executives (Ex-officio members).
The party encourages active participation from its members and calls on all stakeholders to support the electoral process to ensure a smooth and successful by-election.
