This initiative follows the government’s announcement to cover the costs of dialysis treatment for these specific age groups. The NHIA stated that these funds aim to ensure the smooth operation of healthcare services and sustain the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). In a statement on Sunday, June 30, the NHIA confirmed the disbursement and asserted that the hospitals would manage the funds and reimburse patients who paid out-of-pocket in June.
This disbursement marks the first month of the government’s support for kidney patients, with the NHIA assuring its continued commitment to ensuring access to quality healthcare for all.
