Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, aged 30, has been suspended from football for a period of four years following a failed anti-doping test.
The Italian Anti-Doping Organisation (NADO) initially imposed a provisional suspension on Pogba in September after the test revealed a violation. The test was conducted after Juventus’ 3-0 victory over Udinese on August 20.
FIFA’s guidelines stipulate that suspensions for players who breach anti-doping regulations can range from two to four years, depending on whether it can be proven that the violation was intentional.
It is important to note that Pogba’s suspension is subject to a potential appeal.
NADO reported that Pogba’s ‘A sample’ showed the presence of testosterone that was not naturally produced by the body. Following the provisional suspension, Pogba’s ‘B sample’ was further analyzed at the Acqua Acetosa clinic in Rome, where the failed test was subsequently confirmed.
