The Cape Coast Police have taken swift action by arresting the Adisadel College student involved in a disturbing assault on his fellow student.
The incident, captured in a viral video, showed the suspect subjecting his victim to a heart-wrenching attack, leaving him helpless and with a swollen face. The suspect was apprehended on Wednesday, July 26, and has been charged with causing harm and assault.
After his arrest, the student was granted bail and is expected to appear before a court on Friday, July 28, to face the consequences of his widely condemned actions. The incident had sparked public outrage, with Ghanaians expressing their anger and concern over the violence displayed by the student.
The school authorities took action by suspending both the victim and the assailant initially, which drew further criticism from the public. However, following intervention from the Ghana Education Service and other stakeholders, the victim’s suspension was recalled, and he is currently undergoing medical treatment. The school has also provided him with the support of a psychologist to help him cope with the trauma he experienced.
The assault took place on June 30, but the incident was concealed from the school authorities until recently. The Senior Housemaster of the school has been suspended pending an ongoing investigation into the matter.
