It appears that actress Yvonne Nelson, along with other organizers, is taking steps to coordinate a vigil in protest of recent irregular power supply issues, commonly referred to as ‘dumsor’. The Accra Regional Police Command has responded by scheduling a meeting to discuss the logistics and arrangements for this planned demonstration.
In a letter signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police Arhin Kwasi Annor, the police have invited Yvonne Nelson, Selorm Dramani Dzramado, and Henry Osei Akoto to a meeting on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. This meeting is intended to address the details surrounding the vigil and ensure that the event can be conducted safely and within legal parameters.
Yvonne Nelson has been vocal about her intentions to organize this protest against the administration’s handling of irregular power outages. She initially announced plans for the vigil to take place on May 25, aiming to draw attention to the ongoing challenges faced by citizens due to power supply issues.

The letter specifies that the proposed vigil would begin at 8:30 a.m. at Revolution Square and conclude at 12 a.m. This indicates a significant and extended duration for the protest, reflecting the seriousness of the concerns being raised by Yvonne Nelson and her supporters.

Yvonne Nelson has actively encouraged public participation in this campaign against ‘dumsor’, urging Ghanaians to join her in voicing their discontent with the current state of power supply. She hopes for a turnout similar to the 2015 ‘dumsor’ rally she organized, which garnered considerable attention and support from the public.
Overall, this development underscores the ongoing efforts of individuals like Yvonne Nelson to leverage public advocacy and peaceful protest as a means to address pressing societal issues. The coordination with the Accra Regional Police Command suggests a collaborative approach to ensure that the planned vigil proceeds smoothly and responsibly, while amplifying the voices of those affected by irregular power supply in Ghana.
