Policeman charged with murder after allegedly shooting girlfriend over GH¢5000 debt

Ahmed Twumasi, a police officer, was arrested and charged with murder after reportedly murdering his lover in Adum, Ashanti Region.

Investigations, according to the prosecution, showed that Inspector Twumasi requested a GH5000 reimbursement from the deceased Victoria Dapaah (also known as Maa Adwoa) after the two had a disagreement.

Inspector Twumasi reportedly shot his lover to death when she refused to pay back the loan.

ACP Kofi Blagodzi, head of legal and prosecution at the Asokore Mampong District court, described the alleged crime as barbarous and conveyed the regret of the police administration for the event. Inspector Twumasi’s activities have the police worried, especially considering that he is not a junior officer.

When speaking in court, Inspector Twumasi, who is not currently represented by an attorney, denied having intended to kill his partner.
