President Akufo accepts Cecilia Dapaah’s Resignation

In an official statement released by Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Presidency, it was announced that His Excellency, Nana Akufo-Addo, has accepted the resignation of Cecilia Abena Dapaah from her position as Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources and as a member of the Government.

“President Akufo-Addo applauded Hon. Cecilia Dapaah’s loyalty to the image and standing of his Government and thanked her also for her wholehearted contribution and devotion to the progress of Government and the Nation.

“He wished her the best in all her endeavors.

“The President will soon appoint a new Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources.”

Madam Cecilia Dapaah voluntarily tendered her resignation from the post of Sanitation Minister on July 22. Her decision to step down came amidst reports of a substantial sum of money, including $1 million, being stolen from her residence in Abelemkpe.

“I am resigning therefore because I do not want this matter to become a preoccupation of government and a hindrance to the work of government at such a crucial time”

“I intend to cooperate fully with all the state agencies to enable them fully establish the facts,”

The President acknowledged and accepted her resignation, respecting her willingness to take responsibility and step down from her role as a public servant. The incident has garnered significant attention, and Madam Cecilia Dapaah’s decision to resign is seen as a step towards accountability and upholding the standards expected of government officials.
