Renowned Highlife Musician Dada KD Reported Dead

Ghana’s music industry has been struck by a wave of shock and sorrow following reports of the passing of celebrated Highlife musician Nana Kwaku Duah, popularly known as Dada KD.

At the moment, details surrounding the cause of his death remain unclear. However, the news has prompted an outpouring of tributes from fellow musicians and fans on social media.

Gospel artiste Empress Gifty simply posted his name in disbelief: “Dada KD.” Broda Sammy, another gospel musician, wrote, “Rest in peace champion musician Dada KD,” while Highlife colleague Dada Hafco shared his shock, posting, “KD? Chaleee Ei.”

In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Dada Hafco said he couldn’t personally confirm the circumstances surrounding the death but acknowledged that a credible source had informed him of the tragic news. “If you ask me to confirm myself, I can’t because I’m not around where the incident happened, but somebody called to tell me and that is a very credible source,” he explained.

The passing of Dada KD is particularly heartbreaking as it comes just days ahead of a scheduled performance in London on May 25, where he was billed to share the stage with renowned acts like Obrafour, Slim Buster, and Kojo Blakk.

Dada KD leaves behind a musical legacy that spans decades, with timeless songs such as Tekyere Ma, Ene Menye, Wosuro a Wondi, and Honey Love, which endeared him to countless fans across the country and beyond.
