In a groundbreaking moment, a female student, Rukaya Hussein, has made history at the University of Development Studies (UDS) Tamale campus by becoming the first-ever female president of the Student Representative Council (SRC).
Rukaya Hussein, a level 300 student studying sustainable development, achieved a significant victory in the SRC elections, outshining her competitor Christopher Oduro Boakye by a margin of 129 votes. Rukaya garnered an impressive 2,210 votes, while Christopher secured 2,081 votes.
As the initial election failed to produce a winner, a run-off was conducted between the two candidates to determine the final outcome. In the end, Rukaya emerged triumphant and was elected as the president of the SRC, marking her as the first female to hold this esteemed position in the entire history of UDS Tamale campus.
