Samuel Inkoom, a member of the 2009 U-20 World Cup winning team, revealed on UTV’s United Showbiz that he and his teammates are still waiting on the 10,000 Ghanaian Cedis “gift” that the late President Atta Mills had promised.

The Black Satellites became the first African nation to win the title in Egypt when they defeated tournament favorite Brazil 4-3 in a penalty shootout.

Mr. Inkoom made the startling disclosure that, because they were still minors at the time, they had been told when they were younger that their money had been invested in an investment bond.

The terms that they were provided said that they would be able to access the money in 15 years.

However, the monies were recorded under a “insurance” subscription, which alarmed the former participants following closer examination of the binding instrument.

Agyemang Badu, a 2009 squadmate, has also attested to the same inconsistencies in their funding arrangement.

Reactions to the discovery have been mixed, with several U-20 World Cup champions disappointed since they had long hoped for the promised financial award.
