Residents in several parts of the Greater Accra Region should prepare for a temporary power outage on Sunday, May 18, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, May 14, ECG stated that the planned outage is necessary to facilitate maintenance work by the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) at the Mallam Bulk Supply Point.
The affected areas include Odorkor, Awoshie, Sakaman, Mallam, Darkuman, Santa Maria, Kwashieman, Sowutuom, Ablekuma, Abora, Joma, Manhean, and Gbawe. Others expected to experience the blackout are Weija, West Hills Mall, Obligo, Anyaa, Bortianor, McCarthy Hills, Mandela, Sunda Industries, Tuba, Dunkonaa, and Dandoman.
The ECG apologized for the inconvenience, assuring residents that the maintenance work is part of efforts to enhance the reliability and efficiency of power supply across the country.
This announcement comes amid growing concerns from the public over recent intermittent power cuts, commonly referred to as “dumsor,” which have affected various regions. Many citizens continue to urge the government and energy providers to address the issue swiftly.
