Musician Shatta Wale has come to the defense of Sammy Gyamfi after a viral video showed the politician giving a cash gift in dollars to Evangelist Mama Pat, widely known as Agradaa. The incident, which drew sharp criticism from the public and within Gyamfi’s own party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led to accusations that the gesture was inappropriate and undermined recently introduced codes of conduct for public officials.
Agradaa was observed receiving dollar bills from the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) National Communications Officer and acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board. The act was deemed inappropriate by many, and the video went viral and provoked condemnation.
Shatta Wale expressed his support for Sammy Gyamfi on Facebook, stating that he did not get the reason behind the severe attacks he was receiving. He claimed that the young politician shouldn’t be judged on the basis of a single deed because he had been aiding homeless people for years.
The musician also asked critics to refrain from disparaging people without understanding their backstory. He stated in his post:
“Do you all know when Sammy Gyamfi started helping the streets. All of you should shut up and leave the young man alone if you don’t know about someone’s humble beginnings. We like tarnishing people’s Image too much.”
The financial donation was a considerate gesture that was not intended for public consumption, according to Sammy Gyamfi’s sincere apology. Like he often does, he claimed to be helping someone in need and had no intention of hurting anyone. He stated he understands the response and shows respect to individuals who were let down.

Agradaa, who formerly supported the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stated that she now supports the NDC as a result of getting the funding. Her remarks increased the dispute and led many to accuse her of scheming on behalf of the politician.
According to sources, Political experts and NPP Minority members pushed President Mahama to act despite Gyamfi’s apology, so the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, called Gyamfi to clarify his position. Gyamfi was called to the Jubilee House to provide an explanation after the event.
Only a few days have passed since President John Mahama introduced a new Code of Conduct for public servants that emphasizes discipline, transparency, and appropriate conduct in public office. Even with the best of intentions, many think Gyamfi’s acts violate the spirit of the new code.
If Sammy Gyamfi is removed from his role as acting CEO of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company, Agradaa, popularly known as Mama Pat, has vowed to sell her church and depart Ghana, according to other sources.
