The Office of the President has provided an update on the health status of Nana Bediatuo Asante, Secretary to the President, following his recent hospitalization.
According to the statement, Nana Bediatuo Asante, who was part of President Nana Akufo-Addo’s delegation at the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, began feeling unwell after remaining in the United States for additional government business.
The statement revealed that he was subsequently admitted to a hospital due to his deteriorating condition. However, the Presidency reassured the public that he is currently stable and responding well to treatment. “His medical team is confident about his recovery,” the statement noted, adding that they remain hopeful for his swift return to full strength.
The Office of the President also requested prayers and support for Nana Bediatuo Asante and his family during this challenging time. They emphasized that further updates would be provided as necessary.
In light of recent reports regarding his health, there have been conflicting claims circulating on social media. Some sources alleged that Nana Bediatuo Asante had suffered a stroke and undergone brain surgery in the U.S., while others suggested he had passed away. However, these claims have not been substantiated by official sources.
Nana Bediatuo Asante has served as Executive Secretary to President Akufo-Addo for several years and was appointed as an Ambassador-at-Large in June 2024. His role involves representing Ghana on the global stage, a responsibility highlighted during a formal ceremony at Jubilee House where he was one of ten diplomats appointed for this purpose.
