Eugy, nominee for the MOBO Awards, famous for his hit song “Dance For Me,” shared on Instagram on July 5th, a surprising announcement.
Eugy expressed his transformative decision by posting a heartfelt video of his baptism, and in the caption, he mentioned that he never anticipated embarking on such a life-altering path.
“If someone asked me at the beginning of 2023 what my year would look like I don’t think this is what I would’ve said. That’s how powerful the Lord is.
“When Jesus calls you there’s nothing you can do about it. You must heed and answer. I’ve always said that I know God loves me but l’ve also always tried to manoeuvre using my own might & strength and let’s be honest I wasn’t living righteously – but there comes a point when you realise you must submit to the almighty father and allow his will to be done.”
The vocalist also acknowledged that he is flawed and no superior to others, but he emphasized that he has encountered the grace of God.
Eugy, a prominent figure in the Afrobeats genre with a significant influence in the UK and beyond, recently shared his profound personal change following his baptism and embracing his newly found faith in Christ. Now filled with a refreshed sense of direction, he eagerly looks forward to the promising path that awaits him in the times to come.

“I commit myself to move forward with intention and a pure heart. Last Sunday, I underwent baptism, and I feel immensely grateful to have had my Dad, Pastor Joe (wearing a white t-shirt), and my Uncle, Pastor Joshua (wearing a grey t-shirt), guiding me into this new phase of life. I attribute all the glory to God. I eagerly anticipate the possibilities that lie ahead. Love always,” Eugy expressed in his statement.
To signify the start of a new era, Eugy has also cleared every memory of his “old life” on his social media pages.
