Sports Minister
The Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, has expressed dissatisfaction with the Ghana Amputee Football team, known as the Black Challenge, for accepting donations without prior coordination through his office. This criticism arose after the team received $10,000 from former President John Mahama as an appreciation token for winning consecutive AFCON titles.
Ussif emphasized that the team should have approached his Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) first after their victory, rather than seeking donations independently. He highlighted the importance of proper protocol and accountability to the government regarding funds received and activities undertaken.

The Minister expressed disappointment that, unlike previous occasions, the team did not inform the government of their plans and activities related to their success. He underscored the Ministry’s stance against using state achievements for personal gains and emphasized the need for transparency and proper communication channels.
The Ghana Amputee National Football Team, the Black Challenge, recently secured their second consecutive AFCON title by defeating Morocco in the final match. Despite their sporting success, the Minister’s criticism reflects concerns over procedural adherence and governance in handling external donations and recognition received by national teams.
