Known by his stage name Stonebwoy, renowned Ghanaian musician Livingstone Etse Satekla made a sincere plea for recognition in his acceptance speech at the 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

Stonebwoy discussed previous conflicts and gave his career retrospective after receiving his most recent award. He said, “I’ve worked really hard and consistently throughout the years. I’ve been the Ghana Music Artist of the Year winner since 2015, and we all know what happened when I won it again in 2019.

In his remarks, he alluded to the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards—now known as the Telecel Ghana Music Awards—where the Artist of the Year award was withheld due to an argument with fellow musician Shatta Wale that interrupted the ceremony.

“I just want to plead with Charterhouse, as honorable as they are, to make sure they announce the winner, which I’m confident was Stonebwoy for 2019,” Stonebwoy said in an appeal to Charterhouse, the organization that organizes the awards.

The 2019 incident, which became more intense on stage, attracted a lot of media attention and generated a lot of industry talk. Since then, both musicians have moved on, with Stonebwoy concentrating on his music and professional development.
