Before the decriminalization of this Act in Ghana, suicide was considered a very severe offence that may subject culprits of this act to imprisonment and serious fines.
The parliament of Ghana has decriminalized suicide, therefore, people who attempt suicide will not be considered as criminals but will be considered as persons with mental disorders and thus shall be provided mental healthcare.
