The official passport application website, passport.mfa.gov.gh, is currently offline due to what the Ministry describes as "technical challenges". While the specific nature of these glitches remains undisclosed, the disruption is widespread, preventing new users from starting applications and existing ones from completing their forms.
In response to the crisis, the Ministry’s technical team has partnered with the National Signals Bureau (NSB) to troubleshoot and restore the platform as a top priority. In a formal statement to address the growing concern among the public, the government offered reassurance, stating:
"The Ministry has apologised to customers for the inconvenience and assured the public that an update would be issued once the platform is restored".
For now, Ghanaian citizens are being urged to stop repeatedly attempting to access the site or submit data, as this could lead to further errors while the system is unstable. Instead, the Ministry advises all affected individuals to remain patient and wait for an official "all-clear" before trying to use the portal again.
System outages are a reminder of how much we now rely on digital infrastructure for essential services like Ghana passport applications. While the current disruption is inconvenient, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Signals Bureau are working to ensure the platform returns even stronger.
