Kwasi Kwaning Bosompem, Controller and Accountant General, has announced the successful eradication of ghost identities from the country’s payroll database, marking a significant milestone.

This accomplishment is ascribed to the deployment of an all-encompassing digital solution that unifies the National Identification Authority (NIA) database with the Government of Ghana (GOG) National Mechanized Payroll Database.

The novel system includes a decentralized, real-time biometric validation and verification procedure that is managed by the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) at multiple verification centers across the country.

Improved accessibility and simplicity for the verification process are guaranteed by this decentralization.

Bosompem issued a strong warning, stating that any employee in the public sector who does not have a Ghana Card will face wage loss as of March 2024.

This declaration was made in Kumasi during the annual conference of the Controller and Accountant General’s Department for 2024.

Bosompem emphasized throughout his speech that the payroll database has been operational for many years. In other words, it indicates that we have implemented actions to guarantee the payroll database is reliable and that there are no instances in which an unauthorized individual is on the payroll and receiving government benefits.

In response to inquiries from reporters, Bosompem declared with assurance, “…there are no ghost names [on the government’s payroll] recently.”
