Tragedy struck as President Akufo-Addo’s convoy, returning from the funeral of the late Ejisu MP John Kumah, was involved in a fatal accident at Bunso Junction in the Eastern Region.
One driver lost his life, while several others sustained serious injuries in the collision.
According to reports, a KIA truck crossed the path of the speeding convoy, leading to the accident. Fortunately, President Akufo-Addo was not present in the convoy at the time of the incident.

Further details reveal that two military officers, who were part of the Presidential convoy and sustained injuries, have been airlifted to Accra for advanced medical attention.
In an official statement released on May 19, the Presidency confirmed the incident and identified the deceased driver as Kwesi Atta. His photo was shared by the state-owned Daily Graphic, further adding to the somber nature of the situation.
