A 17-year-old candidate preparing for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) has tragically passed away. Identified as Richmond Quao, the young student’s untimely demise occurred on Friday, August 11, 2023.
This unfortunate incident unfolded in the Amenfi West District of the Western region where he resided.
According to sources, Richmond Quao had just completed his final examination paper for the BECE. However, the jubilation of finishing his exams was overshadowed by his deteriorating health. The day marked the culmination of his academic efforts, but it also brought about his tragic fate.
Reports indicate that a few days prior, Quao had voiced concerns about his health and was promptly taken to the hospital for treatment. After receiving medical attention, he returned home, only to find his condition worsening despite diligently adhering to the prescribed medications.
Tragically, Richmond Quao’s health declined further, and after finishing his final BECE paper, he reported feeling unwell again. He was immediately rushed back to the hospital, where, despite efforts, he passed away. Disturbingly, it was reported that he had been coughing up blood.
This sudden and heartbreaking loss has left both his family and the community in a state of shock and deep sorrow. The tragic circumstances surrounding his passing have drawn attention to the vulnerability of young students during the crucial examination period.
