Tyrone Marhguy, a Rastafarian student who was first denied entry to Achimota School in 2021 because of his dreadlocks, has excelled in the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Despite the first rejection, Tyrone received the highest possible grade, an A1, in all eight disciplines he studied at the school as a General Science student.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, a former adviser to NDC 2024 flagbearer John Mahama, discussed his success on X.
The refusal of admission resulted in a court intervention in May 2021, ordering Achimota School to admit him after long deliberation.
The court verdict, delivered by Justice Gifty Adjei Addo, rejected the Attorney General’s submissions and granted the Rastafarian students’ requested remedy, directing the institution to allow them.
