According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), a fire broke out in an office on the second floor of Parliament House’s Job 600 Block early Tuesday morning, causing partial damage to office documents and books.
The event occurred on August 27 and impacted a section of the building that housed parliamentary offices.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded quickly to a distress call, arriving on the site in time to save the fire from spreading to other portions of the structure. The firefighters successfully doused the fire, and there were no injuries recorded.
The remaining offices on the damaged floor, as well as their contents, were saved thanks to the fire department’s quick response.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is still underway, with officials attempting to discover what caused the tragedy.
The Job 600 Block is a key element of Parliament House, providing office space for members of Parliament and their staff.
