The closing ceremony of the 2023 African Games was ignited by a captivating performance from Ghana’s dancehall sensation Livingstone Etse Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy, who thrilled the audience with his timeless hits.
The 2023 African Games brimmed with excitement as Ghana secured a remarkable total of 68 medals – comprising 19 gold, 29 silver, and 20 bronze – marking the nation’s most successful performance in its history.
Ghana showcased its dominance in soccer events as both the male U-20 and female U-20 teams clinched gold for the host country. Additionally, the host nation shone brightly in arm-wrestling events, securing eight gold medals, while also making a significant impact in boxing and athletics.
With a sixth-place finish out of 53 participating nations, Ghana demonstrated substantial improvement over its 15th position in the 2019 Games held in Rabat.

Stonebwoy’s electrifying performance kept the crowd engaged, with his team delivering a series of hit songs that elicited cheers and sing-alongs throughout the night.
It’s worth noting that Stonebwoy’s colleague artist, Shatta Wale, had previously captivated audiences as the star performer during the opening ceremony of the games.
