According to District Chief Executive (DCE) of South Tongu Seth Kwesi Agbi, the assembly is still holding onto the available supplies for the victims, because there is not enough money to buy fuel for the transportation of relief goods for the victims of the Akosombo dam spillage in the area.
The South Tongu District Assembly has been holding onto supplies meant for the district’s victims of the Akosombo dam spill for the past few weeks.

In a Monday interview, the DCE confirmed that the items were available, but that all attempts to get them to the victims had failed because money could not be raised for the transportation.
“We don’t have enough money to hire a car to deliver the items we have at the assembly. It is a fact. He said, “I have been calling the VRA and NADMO for relief items, but as of today, I have received only GH₵20,000. We need money to fuel the car and send the items to the victims.” Although we have already used that sum, the goods are still available. To transfer them, we require financial assistance.
However, Mr. Agbi stated to Umaru Sanda Amadu during an Eyewitness News interview on Citi FM that although the Assembly possessed cars, they lacked the money to fuel them in order to transport the items.
He made a plea to kind-hearted groups and people to assist them in order to make sure the victims received the supplies.
