The official announcement came during a joint press briefing hosted by the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation alongside MultiChoice Ghana on Monday, October 26, 2026.
This strategic move follows ongoing engagements between pay-TV operators and government authorities regarding TV subscription pricing and broader access to digital content across the country.
Speaking at the briefing, Alex Okyere, Country Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice Ghana, highlighted the philosophy behind the shift, stating that
"the new packages offer different channel selections, sports coverage and entertainment content to suit subscribers' budgets and viewing preferences".
All four new packages are scheduled to take effect officially on November 5, 2026, giving current and potential customers adequate time to review the lineup and make their preferred choice.
Starting at the base, the Starter Pack is priced at GH¢50 per month, serving as the most affordable entry-level option with access to 90 channels.
For viewers looking for a wider variety of local and international programming, the Select Pack costs GH¢100 monthly and provides 123 channels.
Passionate sports lovers are catered to via the Sports Pack, available at GH¢250 per month, which delivers dedicated football coverage alongside all the channels included in the Starter and Select packages.
At the top tier, the Ultimate Pack is priced at GH¢570 monthly, combining the complete spectrum of premium sports coverage with an extensive library of general entertainment programming.
MultiChoice Ghana emphasized that this revised structure gives customers total flexibility to choose a subscription based strictly on what they want to watch and how much they are willing to spend.
The introduction of these four new packages marks a welcome shift toward flexibility and affordability for Ghanaian television subscribers. By providing options ranging from GH¢50 to GH¢570, DStv is putting control back into the hands of viewers.
As the November 5, 2026 launch date approaches, take time to evaluate your home's viewing habits and pick the tier that delivers the best value for your money.
