Following high-level engagements between national executive officers of TUTAG and the Vice-Chancellors of Technical Universities Ghana (VCTU-G), formal proposals were submitted to address the union's grievances and pave the way for calling off the strike action.
In an official letter issued on Friday, October 23, 2026, and signed by TUTAG General Secretary,Dr. Francis Fonyee Nutsugah, the association extended its appreciation to the Vice-Chancellors for demonstrating commitment and concern toward resolving the dispute amicably.
To ensure widespread consensus across all member institutions prior to the national meeting on Monday, October 26,2026,TUTAG leadership urged university Vice-Chancellors to actively engage local union leadership.
Specifically, TUTAG recommended that VCTU-G members liaise directly with the chairpersons of local TUTAG chapters at each technical university to foster mutual understanding ahead of the vote. Emphasizing the necessity of pre-congress dialogue, Dr. Nutsugah noted in the statement: > "We therefore consider it particularly important that the proposed engagements with the Local Chapter Chairmen take place ahead of Congress, to help build the necessary consensus towards a favourable outcome”.
During the scheduled Extraordinary Congress, the national executive body will formally present the position paper and roadmap outlined by VCTU-G to the wider membership. Members will then debate the terms and decide whether to suspend the industrial action.
This collaborative effort comes at a crucial moment when industrial strikes by academic and administrative personnel continue to impair essential services and academic calendars across Ghana’s public university system.
