Official confirmation from the National Sports Authority (NSA) indicates that President John Mahama is expected to perform the official sod-cutting ceremony in Sunyani in early October 2026.
Speaking on behalf of the NSA, Senior Kwame Kusi, the Bono Regional Public Relations Officer, revealed that government preparations are firmly on track for the president's arrival and the formal launch of construction works.
To host this ambitious development, the government has successfully secured a 35-acre parcel of land situated at Old Abesim within the Sunyani Municipality.
The state-of-the-art facility is designed as a 40,000-seater capacity stadium engineered to host both national and international events across various sports.

The project is a FIFA-standard facility that will contain all sporting disciplines.
Construction work is projected for completion by 2029, establishing a sustainable, long-term foundation for Ghanaian sports development.
