The Ministry of Health has formally announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Ghana and Columbus, opening up a structured pathway for Ghanaian nurses seeking employment in the United States.
Under the newly established accord, the Ministry of Health confirmed that Ghana and Columbus have partnered to coordinate the recruitment of qualified Ghanaian nurses for professional healthcare roles within the U.S..
Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh emphasized that the deal goes beyond deployment to ensure worker rights, fair treatment, and alignment with Ghana's Migration Policy and international standards.
The agreement builds on the 2015 Sister-City partnership between Accra and Columbus, alongside the Ghana Labour Exchange Programme.
Leaders highlighted that the partnership serves as a platform for skills transfer, joint research, institutional strengthening, and healthcare innovation.
The agreement was signed at the Michael B. Coleman Government Center by Columbus Mayor Andrew J. Ginther and Ghanaian Ministers, with facilitation from Buckeye Africa Exchange, StrideHx, and Columbus Sister Cities International.
This bilateral agreement marks an important development for healthcare professionals across the nation who are looking to advance their careers internationally while gaining global experience.
