Former General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu, emerged victorious as the newly elected National Chairman of the party after securing 2,888 votes at the conference on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
In a competitive contest that drew widespread attention across the nation, Boadu defeated former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko, who polled 2,048 votes, and former National Chairman Paul Afoko, who received 490 votes.
A pivotal turning point in the election came through a decisive last-minute alliance when fellow contender Sammy Crabbe stepped down from the chairmanship race as voting commenced, explicitly urging his supporters to cast their ballots for Boadu.
This strategic move consolidated Boadu's delegate base, confirming the strong momentum he had already demonstrated as a leading contender in pre-election polls prior to the gathering of over 7,000 delegates tasked with filling nine national executive positions.
Beyond the chairmanship race, delegates re-elected Justin Frimpong Kodua as the party's General Secretary in a decisive show of confidence.
Kodua achieved a commanding victory by polling 4,486 votes, comfortably outpacing former Ngleshie Amanfro Member of Parliament Sylvester Tetteh, who garnered 1,340 votes.
Other aspirants in the General Secretary contest included Eugene Boakye Antwi and Dr. Charles Dwamena, who polled 162 and 126 votes respectively.
In the national youth contest, Abanga Fuseini Yakubu was elected as the NPP National Youth Organiser after securing 1,550 votes to triumph over five other aspirants.
His competitors included Clement Opoku Gyamfi, who polled 631 votes, Michael Osei Boateng with 78 votes, former Deputy National Youth Organiser Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei Asamoah with 46 votes, Vera Oye Bram-Larbi with 44 votes, and Alfred Kumi Ababio with 25 votes.
Additionally, former minister Hawa Koomson secured her election as the NPP National Women's Organiser.
These national executive elections represent a core pillar in the NPP's broader organizational strategy as the party reorganizes its internal structure ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Reflecting the urgent need for internal reconciliation following intense campaigning, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia urged party delegates and leadership to close ranks, emphasizing that
Elections are over, time to unite for 2028.
