Zakaria Abdulai has officially resigned from his position as the NDC Juaben Constituency Secretary and simultaneously withdrawn his candidature from the constituency chairmanship race.
His sudden stepping aside comes as a direct result of instructions from the party hierarchy, which directed him to vacate his position while a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) inquiry remains ongoing.
This development introduces a significant shift in local party administration and election preparations in Juaben.
Interestingly, the decision reflects a broader wave of constituency rulings; just twenty-four hours earlier, the NDC had cleared the suspended headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS) to contest in party elections, explicitly citing principles of administrative fairness and the legal presumption of innocence.
However, in a swift turn of events, party leadership reversed that clearance decision on October 20.
Speaking on his resignation and exit from the race, Abdulai stated that he will now dedicate his full attention to "clearing his name over the allegations against him" as official investigative procedures proceed.

As constituency executives prepare for upcoming internal reorganizations, the resignation of Zakaria Abdulai signals a crucial moment for the NDC in Juaben.

With the CID probe active, political observers across Ghana will be closely monitoring how the party balances internal cohesion, accountability, and justice.
