Diakite was the hero for Ivory Coast, as they defeated Mali 2-1 in extra time to advance to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations semifinals.

Despite being down to nine men, Ivory Coast showed resilience, with Simon Adingra scoring the equalizer in the 90th minute. In extra time, Oumar Diakite scored the winning goal in the 120th minute, securing the victory for Ivory Coast.
The goal scorer was sent off for taking off his shirt in celebration, but Ivory Coast held off Mali in the last stages of the game to secure a spot in the semifinals.
