The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has pledged to establish a cabinet predominantly composed of young individuals, making it one of the youngest cabinets in the nation’s history.

Mahama, addressing members of the party’s youth wing in Accra, recounted his own early political career and emphasized the importance of providing opportunities for young people to excel. He highlighted his own trajectory, entering Parliament at 38, serving as a deputy minister at 39, becoming a full minister at 41, and assuming the vice presidency at 50.

Asserting that young people constitute the majority of the population, Mahama expressed his intention to ensure their representation in the cabinet, stating, “If you are setting up a cabinet, young people will be the majority in that cabinet.”

While he did not directly address the issue of government size, Mahama stressed his commitment to driving significant development by involving more youth in his administration.

Encouraging the party’s youth to focus on securing victory in the upcoming general elections, Mahama emphasized the importance of vigilance at polling stations. He urged them to collaborate closely with the party’s election directorate to ensure proper monitoring and transmission of election results.

The National Youth Organizer of the NDC, George Opare-Addo, underscored the youth wing’s determination to use all legitimate means to ensure the will of the Ghanaian people is respected. He emphasized the duty of every Ghanaian to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process, pledging to ensure that every vote is counted accurately.
